Police Nab 3 Suspected Tricycle Tyres, Batteries’ Thieves In Asaba

The police detectives attached to Delta State Police Command Asaba have arrested three suspected tricycle tyres and batteries’ thieves in Asaba following a tip-off.

Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, Police Spokesman in the state confirmed that the suspects were arrested on Thursday around Okwe Quarters of Asaba through the help of men of Asaba vigilante group while they were trying to ferry across the Niger the alleged stolen tricycle tyres an batteries.

It was gathered that the suspects claimed they were on a mission for their customers who live in Onitsha, adding that the tricycle tyres and batteries were abandoned in the bush where they picked them from.

But Asaba Vigilante Chairman, Mr. Nnamdi Chukwunedu who spoke to our reporter said the suspects upon interrogation, confessed to the crime, adding that they have been behind many missing and stolen tricycles and then sell to ready buyers in Onitsha.

He said that the stolen batteries were recovered from the suspects as police have intensified efforts to arrest the buyers in Onitsha. Meanwhile, the police have placed Ibusa Community near Asaba under 24 hours patrol to avoid further cult clash which had enveloped the town few weeks ago.

It was gathered that in order to arrest the perpetrators of the increasing cult activities, the police have continues to raid suspected spots known to be hideouts of criminals and cultists in the area.

Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, Police Image Maker in the state confirmed that police efforts were to ensure no breakdown of laws and order in the community, adding that cult activities in the community would soon become a thing of the past.
