Truck Crushes Middle-aged Man To Death In Delta

A middle-Aged man identified as Marfred (surname withheld) was on Wednesday allegedly crushed to death by a truck driver in Oleh community, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The truck, Mac-truck with registration number XB150 LEH, reports said, was being driven out of a plastic industry premises along Oleh/Ozoro road when the middle-Aged man stealthily sneaked into it, unknown to the driver who had moved. It was reliably gathered that the man a native of Oleh community, before the incident which claimed his life, was a casual worker with the plastic industry.

He was said to have gone searching for the food to eat when the unexpected happened. But Police Officers in Oleh Police Division who confirmed the incident on condition of anonymity, said the victim left for food against the company’s rulers, adding that his corpse had been deposited at Oleh General Hospital Mortuary.

The Manager of the Plastic Industry, Mr. Nduka Benson who confirmed the incident, said it was unfortunate the worker lost his life, disclosing that the company forbids staff going out in search of food outside the company’s restaurant.. Meanwhile, a man and his daughter have reportedly sustained severe injuries in an alleged kerosene explosion which rocked Oleh community in the early hours of yesterday.

sources said the man and his daughter, Joseph and Mary Odeh, allegedly tried to fill a lantern in their house with kerosene they bought earlier in the day during nightfall from a nearby store when it went up flame, causing sudden explosion which affected the man and the daughter who was standing a few distance away from the father.

They were said to have been rushed to Owhe Memorial Clinic be neighbours who heard them shouting for help for medical attention. But the Chief Medical Director of the Clinic, Dr. Fredrick Oweh confirmed the victims were undergoing treatment for suspected adulteration kerosene explosion.
