Police arrest 10 suspected kidnappers for killing 59 year-old woman

23 cultust sus­pects have beenvparaded before journalists in Ebonyi State by the State Police Command in the state.

10 of the suspects are Mathew Ogbudike (29) ex-soldier from Lokpanta Abia state; Chibuike Oker­eke; Ezenwa Nnazor; Kel­echukwu Azubuike; Obichi Uzoigwe; John Nwankwo; Egu Chimezie; Chigozie Enyinaya and Umeore Udochukwu.

Among those paraded are 10 suspects that allegedly kid­napped, killed and buried a 59-year-old woman in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Govern­ment Area of the state, Mrs Catherine Okorie in a shal­low grave.

The suspects hail from Ebonyi, Enugu and Anam­bra States.

The State Commissioner of police, Titus Lamorde, said the suspects were ar­rested at different locations.

He disclosed that Ch­igozie Enyinnaya and Umeore Udochukwu sup­ply arms to the kidnap gang and have confessed to the crime.

He said, “The suspects also con­fessed to the kidnapping of one Uchenna Emeblu at Ishiagu along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway on 30/01/2017 and collected the sum of N400,000 as ransom, robbed one Eme­ka John on 25/12/2016 and shot him in the eye.”

Lamorde disclosed that on 27/2/2017, one Ig­natus Edeh of Ofenakpa Inyimagu,Ikwo Local Government Area of the state was arrested for defraud­ing one Nweke Joseph of N1.2million and was about to defraud a Catholic Priest of N1million when he was arrested.
