The member representing Ughelli Constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly, Mr. Samuel Mariere, hinted that when passed into law, the bill will checkmate the menace of herdsmen in the state. He said: “Once passed, all lands given for grazing by any individual in the state become illegal. There would be a committee charged with the mandate of giving land to herdsmen and it would be illegal for any of these herdsmen to graze outside their authorized land.”
The Delta State House of Assembly has began moves to curb the excesses of herdsmen in the state, following the presentation of the Anti-Grazing bill which has just concluded public hearing on same.Mr. Samuel Mariere did explain yesterday (Monday) the moves taken by the security agents in the state to curb the excesses of the herdsmen in Ughelli during a security summit organised by the Ughelli ‘A’ Division of the state police command.
