Hip-hop has another dance challenge on its hands. With French Montana’s “Unforgettable” record picking up steam on social media, a bevy of stars and fans are tackling the newest craze.
This past weekend, Montana flexed his moves with his rap comrades after performing with DJ Khaled at Coachella on Sunday. Drake, Belly, Slim Jxmmi and more participated in the challenge in support of the “No Shopping” star’s newest record. Despite not being able to join the party, Diddy deftly showcased his footwork on his plane.
Earlier this month, Montana ignited the challenge when he partnered with Travis Scott to put their moves to the test on Instagram. With a host of stars taking part, fans have quickly joined in on the action. In a matter of days, people from Germany and Italy have taken a crack at the latest dance sensation.
Last week, Montana released his “Unforgettable” video with Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee. The concept behind “Unforgettable” stems from his adoration for Uganda’s Triplets Ghetto Kids, prompting the “Shot Caller” star to shoot his video in Uganda.
“I listen to a lot of African music,” Montana said in a recent interview with Billboard. “I was on the computer going through it, and I ran across these kids. I was a fan and I felt like I saw me in them, ’cause I grew up in Africa when I was their age. I was doing the same thing they were doing. In my head, I was playing ‘Unforgettable.’ They were just dancing and I fell in love with it and said, ‘I gotta find these kids.’ It was something new, it was a breath of fresh air. With having gone through living in poverty and being happy with nothing, they channel that through their dance moves and their energy. Them having no TVs and just learning how to dance, it just makes them have their own moves and their own swagger.”
