Presidency wants to arrest deputy senate president and PDP state governors – PDP

The PDP caucus of the senate today addressed a press conference where they alleged that there are plans by the presidency to arrest deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremdu and some former PDP governors.

At a briefing with Senate Correspondents, Spokesman of the Caucus, Senator Enyinanya Abaribe read a statement saying intelligence gathered by them suggest that there are plans by the presidency to use security agents to plant arms and ammunitions and other inriminating materials in the homes of Ike Ekweremadu and some former PDP governors.

The senators condemned the alleged plans, saying Nigeria is not prepared to head back to the days of late maximum ruler, General Sani Abacha. The PDP Senators in the same vein, condemned the arrest of former governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa state and Babangida Aliyu of Niger State for corruption charges.

The senators claim the allegations are false and were cooked up by the government. They promised a political showdown if the intercepted intelligence document is implemented by security agencies controlled by the presidency officials.
