Police arrests 10 hoodlums for disrupting Dogara’s event

10 suspected political thugs identified as Sara Suka have been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command, for allegedly disrupting an event organised by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the arrest, said the hoodlums were apprehended by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command in the Dass Local Government Area of the state.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspects – Mohammed Hussaini, Ahmed Aliyu, Sule Abdul, Misbahu Abdul, Musa Abubakar, Salisu Hassan, Ibrahim Mohammed, Ahmed Aliyu, Nasiru Abdullahi and Safiyanu Jibrin – were arrested on Saturday.

Mohammed said, “The suspects concealed weapons such as machetes, knives and cutlasses, in their vehicles. We recovered a car with number plate, AG 241 BAU, and a Sharon bus with number plate, DRZ 825 AA, from the suspects. They stormed the venue of the flag off of the constituency event by the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, with intent to disrupt the event. The exhibits recovered included one axe, three machetes, two knives, and five sticks.”

Also, the command arrested one Zaharadeen Ibrahim, 26, of the Sabon Kasuwa area of the state at the venue.

It was learnt that the suspect inflicted a deep machete cut on one Aminu Saleh, 25, of Bundot ward in Dass, over an argument which emanated as a result of N2,000 given to them to share.

The victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Dass, and was reportedly treated and later discharged.

The police recovered the machete from Ibrahim.
