Teenager faces jail term for attempted murder ( Find out what really happened )

A 19- year-old teenager identified as, Mojeed Sanusi, who allegedly attempted to kill a man by hacking him with a machete, is facing trial at an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court.

Sanusi, whose address is unknown, was arraigned on a two-count of attempted murder by using a dangerous weapon and breach of peace.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Eigbejiale, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 13 at 9. 30 p.m. at Isale Jagun in Iberekodo area of the Ogun State capital.

Eigbejiale alleged that the accused attempted to kill Mufutau Sikiru by attacking him with a machete and in the process, he injured him on the head.

“The accused and Sikiru were fighting and the accused brought out a machete to cut him and he injured him on his forehead.

“He is still receiving treatment in the hospital.”

The offences contravened Sections 249, 320 and 338 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oriyomi Sofowora, in her ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said one of the sureties must be the mother of the accused, while the second surety should a notable relation or a reputable leader in the community.

She adjourned the case until June 5 for hearing.
