Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo has expressed confidence the Super Eagles will bounce back from a shock home loss against South Africa to beat Cameroon in crucial World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria and Cameroon will do battle on the road to Russia 2018 between August 28 and September 5 as the World Cup qualifying series gathers momentum.

“They are very important matches for us and we have the quality to win both games,” Omeruo told SCORENigeria.

“The two games are very important to us. It is the World Cup and I don’t think anybody will take it lightly.

“Our midfield will be okay as Mikel (Obi) will be back, some other players like Victor Moses will also be back by God’s grace so we will be ready for Cameroon.”

He added, “I don’t think there should be any reason for Nigerians to fear about Cameroon. I see the South African team as better than Cameroon. No doubt Cameroon are different from South Africa, they are playing in the FIFA Confederations Cup, which offers them more preparatory opportunities.

“They would also be playing a different pattern, but make no mistakes about it, they are a good, strong team and African champions for that matter.”

The defender also said the home loss to South Africa in an AFCON 2019 qualifier was a wake-up call for the country.
