Court remands 24 year-old cultist in prison for murder

A 24 year-old suspected cultist identified as Rasheed Adeola, has been remanded in prison by an Ota Chief Magistrate’s’ Court in Ogun, over alleged murder.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. B. Adebowale, ordered that the accused should be in prison pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecution.

The accused, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, said that the accused and others still at large, committed the offence on June 24 at about 9.00 p.m. at No. 2, Humph Close Plaza, Ota.

Mustapha said that the accused and his accomplices, being members of a secret cult known as “Aiye Confraternity’’, conspired and killed Wallu Folorunsho.

He said that the accused and his accomplices killed the victim by violently attacking him with a gun and a cutlass which led to his death.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 319 (1) and 324 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
