President Muhammadu Buhari travels to Daura for Salah celebration

President Muhammadu Buhari left Abuja on Wednesdayfor his hometown ,Daura, in Katsina State shortly after the meeting to observe the Eid-el Kabir holiday.

The Federal Government had earlier declared Friday and Monday as public holidays.

Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State led top government officials including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mustapha Inuwa, to receive President Buhari at the Musa Yar’Adua International Airport.  The Emir of Katsina, Dr Kabir Abdulmumin, was also at the Airport to welcome President Buhari.

The Presidential jet touched down at the tarmac at 4.06pm.

After airport ceremonies, Buhari was taken in an helicopter to Daura where he is expected to spend the Eid-El-Kabir holiday.

Buhari’s trip to his hometown is an indication that the traditional sallah homage that Muslims residing in Abuja pay on sitting Presidents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja will not hold on Friday.
