Shocking !!! Grandfathers arrested for stealing cars in Imo State

Two grandfather have been arrested by the  Anambra State Police Command on Thursday for car theft, they were allegedly caught while trying to sell a Toyota Tacoma SUV stolen in Owerri, Imo State.

Twenty-five bunches of keys, including a master key, one Federal Road Safety Corps jacket, FRSC banner and two number plates were recovered from them.

Parading the suspects at the Police Headquarters in Amawbia near Awka, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Nkeiruka Nwode, gave the names of the suspects as Monday Uche (64), Sunday Ofoekwe (42) and Joseph Chikezie (60).

Nwode said the suspects conspired with Samuel Okowa and Johnson Okowa, who were still at large, and removed one Toyota Tacoma with Registration No: KGS 737 KS from where it was parked at St Michael’s Catholic Church, Amakioha Owerri.

She said the suspects were tracked down by operatives of Anambra State Police Command, who arrested them at Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of the State.

The PPRO said the suspects had confessed to the crime and were assisting the police with useful information.

She added that they would be handed over to the Imo State Police Command for prosecution accordingly.

She said, “Finally, I want to call on the good people of Anambra State to be security conscious at all times and report any strange observation or suspicious movements to the security agencies promptly.”

In a related development, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar, has assured the people of the state of a peaceful Sallah celebration.

He warned those who would try to foment trouble during the Muslim festivities to have a rethink or face the wrath of the police in the state.

In a statement made available to journalists in Awka, the commissioner said, “Let it be noted that the police and other security agencies were fully prepared to ensure safety of life and property of the citizens before, during and after the celebrations.
