First lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, on Wednesday gave her support for women in the state saying, it was time that women were recognised as innovators and solution providers.

Ambode, who is the chairman of the Committee of the Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), stated this at Alausa, Ikeja, during a press conference on the 2017 National Women Conference slated for October 24 to 26 on Lagos Island.

The governors’ wife, who noted that the theme of the event, ‘She Creates, She Transforms,’ was apt, added that women were endowed with skills and blessed with creativity. She said they should be celebrated.

“You will agree with me that women are uniquely created, endowed with skills and blessed with creativity. As helpmates, we care for the family and impact our immediate environment positively.

“The woman, out of very little, creates; she transforms the little created to something bigger and better. Our transformation efforts extend to all facets of human engagement,” she said.

She said the conference would focus on the ingenuity of Nigerian women in the pursuit of innovative and practical solutions towards achieving sustainable development.

The governor’s wife explained that the annual conference was part of the strategic intervention of COWLSO to support the activities of Lagos State Government, especially with regard to women development and empowerment.

She added that the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo; the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Emmanuel Udom; and his counterpart in Adamawa State, Alhaji Jibrilla Bindo, would be part of the conference organised by COWLSO.
