“Nnamdi Kanu is in London; he fled through Malaysia” – Orji Uzor Kalu reveals

Former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu has said leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is currently in London.

Kalu revealed this in an interview he granted Sunday Punch, adding that he does not know about the whereabouts of Nnamdi Kanu’s parents.

He said contrary to what has been fed to the public so far, the military did not take Kanu and his parents away.

Orji Uzor Kalu told Sunday Punch:

“Kanu was not taken away by the military. Kanu went to Malaysia from where he travelled to the United Kingdom. Nnamdi Kanu is in London right now as we speak.

“He was not arrested by anybody. He left the country on his own.

One of his relations has spoken to me and explained everything because I wanted to see him and talk to him wherever he was and see how I could meet some Federal Government officials on his issue.

“I also wanted to see ways of talking to the President about him, and find common ground but his family told me that he has left the country, unless they are lying to me.

“I believe, whether he had left the country or not, he is not with the military because I asked the Commander of the 14 Brigade, Brigadier General A.K Ibrahim, who is a very fine and good soldier, well educated and dedicated, and he told me that they don’t know his whereabouts and I am sure, the Department of State Services have the same information.

“I also visited the Commissioner of Police and he said he didn’t know his whereabouts and that they are also looking for him.”

On the whereabouts of Kanu’s parents, Kalu told Sunday Punch:

“I visited them in December last year and I was not impressed with the discussion I had with the father and the mother because I expected them to have acted better.

“Since then, I have not visited them.

“I feel that they have not impressed me because they ignored my advice to them to talk to their son on the need to stay at home and avoid public outings. I said his people can continue to carry their flags around but that they should not disturb anybody again.

“They have a right to express themselves but that such rights should be within the limits of our constitution.

They have the right to carry Biafran flags but they should do so within the limits of the constitution. Once your activities are within the limits of the law, you are in order.

“You cannot carry Biafra flags and be stopping vehicles and smashing their windscreens.

“You cannot carry Biafra (flags) and be raping young girls, you also cannot carry Biafra (flags) and be assembling young men every day.

“These are people who have no job and after doing that, they will go and engage in kidnapping or they will go and do armed robbery while some will go and do other things to make money.

“Hunger is a very terrible thing.

“The traders in the market have warned them to stop the nonsense they are doing. Why should you be extorting money from people in the name of Biafra agitation?

“They are extorting money from people in the market against their will.

“If the federal and state governments continue to watch and allow all these things to continue, there will be chaos in the state.

If Kanu had not proved stubborn but listened to advice and kept to the rules of the court, we won’t be where we are now.”

  1. looking for favour from federal government. someone want to speak against Kanu and Ipob in order to avoid efcc hammer. Anyway whatever angle you are coming from, we already know your intent. If You tell us the whereabouts of Kanu you should also tell us the whereabouts of his perents. I don’t know when this speaker became the spokesman of Ipob and also the information minister of the federal government .

  2. This is simply an act of sabotage and felony against one’s own people and ethno-religious interests.Orji KANU is Babangida’s boy and because of his personal political interest in this failed project and shattered entity called ‘Nigeria’,he (Orji) want to fall as a stooge to the northern elements who believe that Nigeria is mainly theirs while giving the so called country no resources.Seriously speaking, what are the inputs of the north to the national development of this country?Be it economically, scientically, commerce and finance, reputable representation outside the shores,in sports, education, you name it.Here is my honest stance and quite easy,Nigeria need restructuring.Let the presidency be rotated in accordance to the six geo-political zones.Let every region build on its own human and natural resources. This will help to speed up development all over the country.Youth will no more be restive and engaged in various criminal activities. There is also ardent need to immediately construct the Second Niger Bridge. In addition, since the Apapa Wharf is already highly congested, inversely leading to slow economic growth. The FG should reconstruct and enlarge the Port Harcourt Port.Beyond that of Lagos,it will help the Niger Delta region in particular and the nation at large. We all know that there are conspiracies and atrocities in high places.M.K.O. Abiola was killed because of the June 12 Elections, and the North led by rtd. General Ibrahim Babangida compensated the West by giving power to rtd. General Olusegun Obasanjo. However, because of the Odi killings, power rotated to the South South.Let us be truthful to ourselves,as a result of the bloody Biafra War which maimed over 2 million people. What have they given to the region?Nothing.Let the truth be told so that the little ones would grow in a land full of plenty, prosperity and prosperity.

  3. we have high respect for Orji Uzo Kali but he is beclouded in his reaction with inconsistent revelations. No Igbo should destroy another because he wants to play second cradle to the North.

We are ashamed of some of our leaders Dear former governor speak as elder of Igbo land

  4. Well, Nigeria will continue to be one no matters what whites try to do we will still remain one nation, it is the fear of what Nigeria will become in future to come that is making them planning breaking up of our dear Nigeria but instead of division let call for restructure in one mouth and every tribes will open their minds for the goodness of our future generation, may God help us. Amen.

  5. Orji uzo Kalu, is one of the Igbo apologises their interest is self-centered on their personal interest how to protect and recover losts in the Nigeria project by mortgaging the Igbo nation to his own personal interest. such Igbo personnel are not what we want for Ndigbo take it or live Nnamdi KANU is an Igbo nationalist we will keep hailing him, leadership is not by age but selflessness and courage against all opposition.

  6. sometimes I filed very very disappointed
some of this salve whom don’t know their history Background’s because I don’t see any reason you speak from both mouth , just because you needed a favour from the federal government, have you ever asked yourself a question why is it my people being treat like second class citizens?

  7. Alex you are right, I appreciate your reference to June 12 saga, but you people should learn how to fight in a civilized way and not civil war. an adage says “wisdom is powerful than force” Igbo should fight their course with intellect and wisdom, we should not allowed foreign power to destroy us because we want to have our way in unity only we can stand. You see to politicians we need to unite against them, the resources accrued to the States how has it been used to the benefits of the state, we need to call them to order. Poverty knows no tribe or religion. Consider the attitude of most politicians, what is the assurance that all will be well if Kanu or any of the present politicians become the President of Nigeria or even Biafra

  8. Orji Uzo kalu u re a disgrace to the igbo tribe is like ur father is the same with rochas aturu hausa, anyway Buhari is the cause of all this he is not a true leader,he is sturborn Nd he has hearted on igbos

  9. my dear former governor Orji Uzo Kalu, well
done for your advice to the parents of Nnamdi, but I don’t not know where you stand,I hail Nnamdi who comes out and stand for Biafra freedom during your time as a governor till now,I Never heard your speak out on the marginalization of my Ndigbo (Like Dim Odimegwu Emeka Ojukwu always address the Igbos,My Ndigbo), rather you are out accepting any condition giving to my Ndigbo while making money through your leadership. Today, your are one of the richest man in the Eastern region, very comfortable, and for that you can say anything you like….. but let me tell you,let those who can stand for Biafra stand. It is heart breaking that you can not with all your wealth accumulated with the name of Eastern state, you can not stand and condemn the way your fellow man is treated. REMINDER..,we the Igbos, knows who is who when the comes

  10. All Biafra agitators should tread with care, the peace of Nigeria is Paramount, drive home your point vide dialogues and find positive options for there are more betrayers among Igbo leaders than you know.

  11. Ade you are right. Politicians will always be politicians, looking for citizens to politicise and used as tools for politicking.
We should ask ourselves this question; “Most of our political leaders clamouring and advocating for restructuring of the country, are they actually doing it for the interest of we the masses, or they are just doing it to get power nd be in authority” Nigerians shld stop being gullible, we shld stop letting the people we voted in power use us for their selfish political gains. We shld stand on our feet, demand for our rights, monitor our resources and allocations, taxes and revenues, and demand for good governance. We don’t need to allow conflict entrepreneurs use us to cause disharmony, crises, and chaos in the country. We shld becoming threats to the national security nd peace thru violent protests. You need a change in the way the country is governed, you don’t need to cause a war. All you need is your vote. Our vote is our weapon. if we wnt to kick a bad leader out, we shld just vote them out, instead of causing political unrest.

  12.
