When singer, Emmanuel Okosi, aka Soul E, came into the industry over a decade ago, many felt he was in for the long haul going by the zeal with which he pursued his career. However, after less than two years of an active music career, he fizzled out of reckoning.
Some have attributed Soul E’s abrupt exit from the industry to his decision to get married to his ex-wife, Queen Ure, who is much older than him. The couple was married for a short while before their matrimony hit the rocks. In the wake of their breakup, the former lovers resorted to washing their linen in public and slung a lot of mud at each other.
Ure claimed that when the going was good between them, she was responsible for feeding Soul E and his parents. She also stated that she invested a lot of money into his music career, which never got to soar. On his part, Soul E stated that he regretted ever getting married to Queen Ure.
Back then, Soul E was signed to Colossal Entertainment but he also fell out with the company. The only notable song that can be credited to the singer is Soul E Baba. He also featured in 2face’s 2006 hit song, E be like Say.
Meanwhile, a lot of pundits in the industry had posited that Soul E was one of the budding stars to watch out for at the time.
Shortly after his marriage breakup, Soul E announced that he had become a pastor. He has also courted controversy with some of his prophecies in the past. In 2014, Soul E prophesied that Wizkid would be poisoned and Davido would be involved in a fatal car crash. At the beginning of this year, the singer-turned-cleric also made some prophecies, saying among other things, that President Buhari would stay in office for eight years and that there would be an assassination attempt on US president, Donald Trump’s life.
However, nothing much has been heard from the singer, who remarried some years ago, since then. He is believed to be resident in Abuja, and is now a gospel singer, but none of his songs has made it into public consciousness.
