As Nigerian theatre practitioners continue to find a way to revive the stage play culture in the country, a foremost theatre production company has commenced the celebration of its 30th anniversary.
Founded in 1987 basically to gather young people to have fun and create productions, over the years has performed all across the country and internationally. It has also featured mainstream celebrities and busy executives in its stageplays. Among them are people like Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Chief Dele Momodu, Kunle Onime, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, Funmi Iyanda, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, AlhajiTeju Kareem, FunlolaAofiyebi-Raimi, EfeOmoregbe, Margaret Essien, Yemi Sodimu, Bukky Wright, Dayo Adeneye and so many others.
For its 30th anniversary, the theatre group is organizing a two-day event which starts with a seminar and culminates with a dinner and awards show.
On Friday 1st December 2017, the opening ceremony and seminar holds at Shodex Garden, Anthony, Lagos. The theme is ‘The Role of Theatre in Nation Building using Nigeria as a Case Study’ and is targeted theatre companies in Lagos, directors, producers, schools and students.
On December 2, all roads lead to Freedom Park for a dinner and awards ceremony that will once again feature command performance of a stage play by business executives who has also graced the Black Image stage before alongside Black Image cast. The occasion will also feature a foundation launch as well as a cocktail and red carpet event.
