Leke Akinrowo is no stranger to the world of the arts. A graduate of Dramatic Arts at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, he had been involved in theatrical productions with Felix Okolo’s Tempo Productions, until 1995 when Chevron beckoned. Twenty-one years after, he has pitched his tent with the industry in which he told Sunday Scoop, that he was convinced there was an eminent place waiting for him.
In a chat with Sunday Scoop, he said, “I saw Figurine in 2011. For a couple of weeks, I could not get it off my mind that if I did not do something quickly, my place would no longer be found in the arts world. So, from then, I started making plans, little by little, attending training here and there, preparing myself for the ultimate purpose of leaving and starting my own entertainment company.’’
So, for Leke Akinrowo, the tipping point for the full realisation of his dream came recently at Terra Kulture, when Riveting Integrated Entertainment Limited was unveiled.
Akinrowo, who has already attended the New York Film Academy as part of equipping himself for the professional journey ahead, affirms that his company, RIEL, is offering the Nigerian entertainment industry multi-layered benefits. The company, through its RIEL Records, will be producing premium quality music, upscale theatrical productions through RIEL Playhouse and world-class flicks through RIEL Studios.
Already, RIEL has put together a well-produced musical video of its first sign-on and rising star, Ludu Cashville.
Also on the cards is the performance of a stage show titled ‘The Walking Stick’ whose thematic thrust dwells on the ills of drug abuse.
