Rumour-mill has it that female talking drummer Ara is romantically involved with the Ooni of Ife after his separation from his wife Olori Zaynab Otiti. The celebrity female drummer Aralola Olumuyiwa popularly known as Ara has come out to clear the air about her relationship with Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi.
Ara was earlier in the reign of Ooni Ogunwusi appointed as the Cultural Ambassador of Ife kingdom, a position that makes her very visible in the palace as she has an office there.
But upon the divorce of Ooni from Olori Wuraola and Ara’s proximity to the first class monarch, tongues have started wagging. There have been rumours that she might be the next olori of Ooni of Ife.
To put the records straight, Ara who is a divorcee and a single mother of one said though she has found love again after seven years of separation from her husband, she said there is nothing going on between herself and the Ooni.
Ara denied being romantically involved with Oba Ogunwusi despite clamour from people for her to marry the first class Yoruba monarch.
She said of her relationship with Ooni: “The truth is in Ife I’m called Olori; people assume I’m his woman. I have been called by the widows and certain people to please come and be the Olori.
They believe I am perfect for him; I understand the culture, I understand him, we’re very close but the truth is, it’s not him, so I don’t blame people who assume it’s him, honestly I don’t.”
