Baba Sala is fine, says son

Baba Sala’s first son, Reverend Dele Adejumoh, has insisted that people have no reason to worry about his father. According to him, the aged comedian is being adequately cared for by his children.

He told Sunday Scoop that people often spread wrong information and exaggerate the veteran comedian’s health status.

He said, “We are taking care of my father. He does not take care of any of his children again and he does not pay school fees too. People are just being misinformed.

“As a family, we plan to celebrate our father. As soon as our plans are finalised, it will be communicated to the media.”

Speaking on a book about Baba Sala, Triumph of Destiny, which was launched on Thursday at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, he said, “It is a good book and we appreciate everyone who contributed to its success because they did a thorough job. I am very happy my father is being celebrated while he is still alive. Baba is also very happy about it. It is better we celebrate our icons while they are alive. We don’t need to wait until they’re dead before we begin to speak well of them. Apart from my father, we still have Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade, Victor Olaiya, Chris Ajilo and a host of others who have done great things for this country.”

Adejumoh insisted that Baba Sala has nothing against the movie industry or Nigeria, adding that he was only interested in the growth of his church and his relationship with God.

He added, “I have siblings who are actors, but I am not an actor. Baba is a man of God and I have inherited that part of him as a pastor. I don’t have to be exactly like my father.”
