People have been talking on social media after a video showing Ali Modu Sheriff in an altercation with a crowd who nearly assaulted him.

An undated video has shown the moment a former governor of Borno, Ali Modu Sheriff was confronted by a hostile mob in Maiduguri. The ex- governor who was briefly the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party had finished praying before he was accosted by the angry crowd who pulled his dress and tried to physically assault him over an unknown reason.
It took the combined effort of armed police officers to push the crowd out of sight and secure the former Governor inside the house.
The video was shared by Sahara Reporters on social media.
Many people believe Sheriff might have lost the support of some northerners since he was defeated in court and ordered to stop parading himself as the Chairman of the party.
