A Honda Civic and a white Nissan Cabstar were both involved in an accident at Olorunsogo village along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway, leaving three persons dead.

The Public Relations Officer, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, said the accident happened on Saturday.

Akinbiyi said the driver of the Nissan Cabstar, with number plate, KSF 906 XR, was speeding when he lost control.

He said the car left its lane for another lane, which led to a head-on collision with the Honda with number plate, GBE 495 AA.

“The driver of the Nissan Cabstar was on top speed when he lost control and crossed to the opposite lane. He then hit the oncoming vehicle.

“The accident involved eight people: six males and two females. Three males died in the accident, while two people sustained various degrees of injury,” Akinbiyi said.

The TRACE spokesman said the corpses of the victims were taken to the Federal Medical Centre mortuary in Abeokuta, and the injured persons were admitted to the same hospital.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State, Mr Clement Oladele, also confirmed the incident.
