Shocker: How Billionaire Businessman And Wife Were Found Hanging Side By Side Inside Their Mansion

Police officers have said that a billionaire businessman and his wife who were found hanged side-by-side at the edge of their pool may have been murdered.

According to a report by The Sun UK, the businessman, Barry Sherman and his wife Honey were found dead in their £5.3million Canadian mansion in December.

Police initially thought the Toronto businessman killed his wife and then took his own life, but now reports suggest the pair may have been murdered.

A private investigator is believed to have told police the 75-year-old and his 70-year-old wife could have been killed by multiple people, the New York Post reports.

Post-mortem examinations found the pair died from ligature neck compression and there was no sign of forced entry into the home.

There was also no note left to explain what had happened.

Now cops are looking into the theory they were killed after a struggle.

The bodies are said to have been found in an upright, seated position and their wrists showed signs of being bound together.

Honey was found in a pool of blood and had cuts to her lip and nose, CBS News reported.

At the time friends and family members of the couple slammed the murder-suicide theory.

In a statement they said: “We are shocked and think it’s irresponsible that police sources have reportedly advised the media of a theory which neither their family, their friends nor their colleagues believe to be true.

“We urge the Toronto Police Service to conduct a thorough, intensive and objective criminal investigation.”

Constable David Hopkinson said: “The circumstances of their death appear suspicious and we are treating it that way.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “saddened by news of the sudden passing of Barry and Honey Sherman.”

He spoke on Twitter of the “vision and spirit” of the couple known for their philanthropy.

Canadian media said the Shermans had recently put their home up for sale with a price of around Can$7 million (£3 million).

Forbes lists Sherman as one of the country’s richest men, with a net worth of $3 billion.
