President Muhammadu Buhari, supporters under the aegis of the Buhari Victory Mobilisers, have unveiled plans to mobilise five million Nigerians to ensure the President’s re-election in 2019.
Towards this end, the group unveiled a publication titled, “Footprints of change” at a ceremony in Abuja.
The President of the group, Chief Law Madu, who spoke to The PUNCH, on Wednesday said the main objective of the group was to promote good governance and ensure the re-election of Buhari should he decide to seek a second term in office.
He said members of BVM were convinced that the President had done well enough to deserve a second term.
This, he argued, was because Buhari had demonstrated that he was a man of honour and a promise keeper who had, to a very great extent, kept faith with his promise of change.
In a veiled reference to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent open letter, he said, “No amount of letters from any serial letter writer or armada of propaganda unleashed by sworn enemies of change can torpedo the insurmountable ship of change that is navigating Nigeria out of troubled waters and taking her to the safe harbour of a truly diversified, sustainable economy.”
The group said while it was true that Nigeria was not yet where it ought to be, the policies and programmes executed by the Buhari-led administration since 2015, had rekindled hope in the viability of the Nigerian project.
The group argued that the Nigerian “political space today is more stable, predictable and respectable unlike in the past.”
It argued that while previous administrations paid lip service to the issue of diversification of the economy, Buhari had made it a reality.
