Alleged Kidnap Kingpin Evans Sues Police Over Unlawful Seizure Of Properties And Personal Effects

Evans alleged to be a mastermind of a kidnap ring has instituted a new legal action  against the Police at a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos seeking certain reliefs from the Court. 

The suit seeks an ordering mandating the police to release his two properties situate  in the  Magodo area of Lagos State without any conditions attached.

The suspected kidnap kingpin seeks damages of  N1 billion against the police as well as the tendering of a public apology to his person.

The N1billion is said to be general and exemplary damages for the alleged forceful seizure of his houses without due process as no court order was given to the effect  and a perpetual injunction barring  them from tampering or taking any action against him or any of his properties as his criminal lawsuit remains pending.

In addition to his two properties ,Evans highlighted other properties unlawfully seized to include N50 million cash, a wrist-watch worth $170,000, a phone worth $30,000 and five pieces of Saphono Rucci Diamond rings worth $100,000.

Others items reported as seized are three Italian travel bags worth $55,000 dollars, 10 Spanish shoes each worth N2.5 million, 20 KVA inverter set worth N10 million and two sets of dining table worth N8 million.

The application also prayed the court to award  N4 million as the cost of action against the police.

His lawyer Olukoya Ogungbeje instituted  the suit against the Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Police Force, the Intelligence Response Team, (IRT), ACP Abba Kyari and DSP Phillip Rieninwa.

As of this time,  no tentative date has however been set  for the hearing of the suit filed against the Police Force.
