Heartbreaking: 70-Year-Old Woman Killed By Her Own Car In Front Of Her House (Photo)

Celia Mary Renaudon, a 70-year-old woman has died after being run over by her own car in a freak accident outside her home.

According to Daily Mail UK, the old woman was at the entrance to the driveway of her £400,000 property when the vehicle rolled over her, causing catastrophic injuries.

Police, fire and ambulance crews all rushed to the scene in Swan Bank, Madeley Heath, Staffordshire, at around 5.40pm on Tuesday.

She was airlifted to Royal Stoke Hospital after friends and neighbours attempted to perform CPR but she died in the early hours of Wednesday.

Police confirmed there was no one in the car at the time of the accident and the investigation is ongoing. 

A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said: ‘The woman that was hit by a car at her home address on March 20 has sadly died as a result of her injuries.

‘Celia’s family continue to receive support from specially trained family liaison officers and ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.’

Mrs Renaudon, who once worked as a primary school teacher at St John’s Keele, had been married for 50 years, according to Mayor Simon White.

Residents living in the village have reacted with shock to the death of Mrs Renaudon, who was described as being a long-standing member of the community. 

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: ‘She was a lovely woman, we’re not quite sure how it happened yet but it just appears to be a freak accident.

‘This is a close-knit community where everybody knows everyone and we’ve all been hit hard. Its an absolute tragedy.

‘She had a few kids I think and she was married. You can’t imagine what the family are going through. Its just really upset a lot of people.’

Newcastle-under-Lyme Mayor Simon White, who is a parish councillor for Madeley, said: ‘It is still very raw and at the moment.

‘We are just letting everyone know that sadly she passed away.

‘Madeley is grieving at the moment. We are a close-knit community that looks after each other and has each other’s backs.

‘I have expressed my sympathy to the family and neighbours and nearby residents that knew her and performed CPR.

‘The family had lived in the village all their lives and she had been married for 50 years.’
