2019: Shehu Sani Reacts To Buhari’s Intention To Run

Shehu Sani, Senator representing Kaduna Central district in the National Assembly has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s intention to run for a second term.

President Buhari on Monday revealed his intention to run again at the closed-door meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC). He said he wanted to seek re-election in response to the clamour by Nigerians for him to do so.

He also told the party’s NEC that he wanted to give them the honour to notify them first, of his second term ambition.

Reacting, Sani in a tweet said, “Now that Baba decided not to be a Mandela,we hope he become a Deng Xioping and not Augustus Pinochet Agarte.

Deng was the first to rule out lifelong tenure in Communist Party leadership. “My last task is to take the lead in establishing a retirement system,” an 84-year-old Deng told his colleagues months before he quit all his official roles in 1989.

“The natural law cannot be changed, and the leadership transition cannot be stopped.” he said during his lifetime.
