Enugu State Governor gives Super Eagles N5m despite early exit at Russia 2018 World Cup

Despite not making it out of the group stage at the Russia 2018 World Cup, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have been given the sum of N5 million by Enugu state Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

According to the report by Punch, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had promised the Super Eagles the money before they traveled to Russia for the 2018 World Cup.

The report added that the Governor fulfilled his promise to the Super Eagles on Tuesday, July 10, when he presented a cheque through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Joseph Udedi.

Super Eagles would have qualified for the round of 16 at the Russia 2018 World Cup if they had drew their last Group D game against Argentina, but they were beaten.

They lost their first game against Croatia, but came back in their second game to beat Iceland before been sent out of the competition by Argentina.
