Manchester city are seeking to emulate city rivals, Manchester united, in defending their title. The red devils are the last champions to successfully defend the title in 2009.
City’s captain, Vincent Kompany, who has been with the club for a decade and is also the oldest serving player of the club – has won the league title three times. However, they are still yet to successfully defend the league title since they have been winning it.
Kompany is however optimistic this term and thinks Manchester city under Pep Guardiola’s management, will not defend the title this term.
See what he said:
“I can only say it’s different from previous years we have won the league,” he said.
“There’s been so many warnings we have had and every single time we almost have to fight against ourselves and our nature, not to fall in the same trap as the other teams have done, my teams included, a few years ago.”
