Lionel Messi And Sergio Ramos ‘To Lead Protest Against La Liga Games In United States’

Barcelona Captain Lionel Messi is to lead the 20 La Liga club captains in fighting the league’s plans to play an overseas game in the United States.

Last week plans were announced by league officials to play a match across United States as part of a new 15-year partnership with sports and entertainment group Relevant.

Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and their 18 other peers will be at the headquarters of the Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) this Wednesday to oppose the move, according to AS.

AFE President David Aganzo will deliver their stance against La Liga president Javier Tebas amid claims they were not consulted and that the Spanish Football Federation were also kept in the dark.

Exact details of the proposal have not yet been revealed, but there has been speculation that the deal could come into effect as early as this season.
