National chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) on Sunday stated that Senate president Bukola Saraki and Sokoto governor, Aminu Tambuwal left the party because they couldn’t get automatic tickets for the 2019 presidential elections.
Tinubu, made this allegation in a statement titled “They Go Away Because We Go the Right Way”, on Sunday.
In what looks like swift response to Tinubu’s statement, Governor Tambuwal has said he has all it takes to contest against president Muhammadu Buhari. In his response on Monday morning, Tambuwal said automatic ticket is not the reason he left the APC.
In his words
“If I wanted to and if the Presidency is what Ahmed Tinubu thinks I defected, I could contest with President Buhari under the APC. I have what it takes to have contested with Mr President.“I adduced reasons of my defection to the PDP. The reasons are still on record. Automatic ticket by the APC is certainly not part of that.”
Governor Tambuwal dumped the APC on August 1 for the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
