Wife hides Anglican Church Pastor in a big sack bag to evade arrest in Lagos

The Lagos State Police have arrested an Anglican Church Pastor, Rev. Obi who hid in a big sack in his wardrobe, to evade arrest which his wife aided.

The Anglican Church Pastor who was declared wanted over the escape of a suspected criminal from the court in Lagos, was arrested at Ijaye Oba Street by MTN bus stop Ijedodo area of Lagos where he resided with his family.

It was gathered that the arrest of the Pastor came after the escape of one Mr. Madubuko Chukwuma, who was remanded in prison custody for stealing a tricycle belonging to one Prince Orji.

Rev. Obi who went to the Ejigbo Magistrates court and facilitated the release of Mr. Madubuko Chukwuma and stood as surety for him for the perfection of his bail, was implicated after Mr. Chukwuma fled when he realized that the evidence against him will lead to his conviction and imprisonment.

PM Express reported that the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade, then issued a bench warrant against Mr. Chukwuma and his surety ordering the prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, to arrest the surety Rev. Obi.

However the Policemen who tried for months to arrest the Anglican Pastor, were always told by his his that he was not around and had travelled out of the state. The trick was busted after the policemen insisted on searching the house during the last visit. It was further gathered that before the Pastor’s wife opened the entrance to the apartment, she quickly hid her husband inside a big sack which she dropped in their wardrobe. When the police team searched the other rooms and did not find Rev. Obi, they asked her to open the wardrobe.

She opened the wardrobe only for the detectives to discover that Rev. Obi was inside a big sack covered with clothes. He was promptly arrested and detained at the police station. The Pastor has been charged with breach of public peace by perverting the course of justice and aiding Chukwuma’s escape.
