President Muhammadu Buhari has said Nigerians should calm down as loans borrowed by the country can be repaid.
The president, who’s far away in China for the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on Africa-China Cooperation, where he signed a new loan of $328m, has said the loans are necessary for infrastructural development.
President Buhari in a few tweets on Tuesday said,
Meanwhile Mr Reno Omokri, self acclaimed official ‘ruffler’ of president Buhari’s feathers said under Buhari’s government, N13trillion out of the overall N20 trillion owed by the country was borrowed.
With the new loans @MBuhari signed in China, Nigeria’s debt is now ₦20 trillion. ₦13 trillion of that was taken by the Buhari govt. Yet, 11 million Nigerians lost their jobs in the last 3 years and he cant boast of 3 projects initiated, started & completed under him #RenosDarts
