FIFA have released their three man shortlist for the highest football award today. Real Madrid’s midfielder, Luca Modric, Liverpool striker, Mohammed Salah, and Juventus striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, are all in the running for this prestigious award.
The winner would be announced in September 24. This would be the first time in 10 years that Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, would be missing out on the final list.
This doesn’t seems to go down well with his fans as they have taken to social media to fire shots at FIFA.

First time Messi has not been in the top three for any of the main awards since 2006. #FIFAFootballAwards pic.twitter.com/jF8S9GtceC

Messi doesn't only have better stats than all of them. He even performed better in ALL the aspects. Had a consistent high rating throughout all the games and didnt only appear in a game or two. This is no longer an individual award, its a team award.#TheBest#FIFAFootballAwards

I'll leave this here… these awards have become about image, meaning Ronaldo will probs win, nobody came close to Messi last year. FACT #FIFAFootballAwards pic.twitter.com/XylKKVm810
