Wife of late Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu, Bianca declared her intention to run for Senate under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
However, members of her husband’s family have vowed not to support her, even if she emerges as the party’s candidate.
Dr. Ike Ojukwu, who is one of the directors of Ojukwu Transport Company Limited, OTL, while speaking with journalists said it was wrong to allow Bianca, from Ngwo in Enugu State to represent Anambra South Senatorial District.
“Is she from Nnewi? She is from Ngwo in Enugu State. I would prefer someone who is a son of the soil, and because I come from Nnewi, I would like an Nnewi indigene to represent us.”
Nigerians have now taken to social media to react to the statement. According to them, it was wrong to deny a woman married to an Anambra man of running to represent her husband’s constituency.
Igbo's have become commissioners and more in Yorubaland. Bianca Ojukwu can't be senator in Anambra because she's from Enugu. Una well done ooo😎😎😎

Ojukwu's sons are dangling the 'place of origin' line in trying to discredit Bianca's Senatorial ambition. 'A woman from Ngwo, Enugu state'. And I am asking: isn't Bianca now an Anambra woman since she is married to an Anambra man?

You are too young for this, you are way too young for this.
Bianca is having issues with her step-son's and not Nnewi nor Anambra people. https://t.co/lBZ5O2Y3nN
