Kwankwaso says he might leave PDP, if…

Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) member, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso has said he would leave the party, if the leadership of the PDP in Abuja removeS any member of the Kwankwasiyya movement from the list of its aspirants.

A source within the party, is said to have confided to Daily Trust yesterday. The source reportedly said that the former Kano state governor made this threat, during a meeting held at Legacy House, Abuja.

The 2  hours meeting was said to have been attended by PDP stakeholders such as Bello Hayatu Gwarzo and Ambassador Aminu and many more.

According to the source, there is an ongoing battle between Kwankwaso and Doguwa, over the fate their members aspiring for various positions via the PDP platform.

“Kwankwaso told the gathering that any move to remove any member of Kwankwasiyya from the aspirants list will lead to his defection from PDP.

“However, the Doguwa-led faction also threatened to dump the party if the leadership failed to review the list of aspirants.

The meeting ended in a deadlock…Neither Kwankwaso nor Doguwa faction agreed to accept the terms offered by the leadership of the party.”

The source lajns that a resolution has been reached by party leaders in order to bring peace among warring members. He states that the national and state assemblies slots be shared 50-50 between the Kwankwaso and Doguwa factions of the party, as part of efforts to bring lasting peace.

However, the source claims that, Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate had to wade in on the matter, after it became apparent that aggrieved members refused to settle peacefully.

He said Atiku sent a former minister of Aviation, Mr Osita Benjamin Chidoka, to intervene on his behalf, but

He, however, said the former minister also failed to reconcile the contending factions and the meeting still ended in a deadlock.

According to Daily Trust, when asked to comment on the development, the Public Relations Officer of  Doguwa faction of the PDP, Alhaji Musa Danbirni, said he was not aware of the said meeting.  “I am not among the people that went to Abuja because I fell sick and I am still at home. So I don’t know what exactly transpired in Abuja.”
