It’s fair to say that the US is the home of television. Every year it produces some of the biggest blockbusters on the planet, and more and more often they’re finding their way to Netflix.

That’s great news for us here in Nigeria, with some of the biggest and best shows more accessible than ever before.

It’s easier and easier to watch US shows outside of the country these days. Netflix is of course the best option, although you can even access shows that are only on US Netflix these days with a VPN. This guide will help with that, as we countdown the best US shows currently available.

Stranger Things

Stranger Things has grown into a real phenomenon in the two seasons it has been running.

A Netflix Original, the show follows the investigation into a young boy going missing. The supernatural plays a huge part and it’s received critical acclaim by almost every reviewer on the planet.

It’s available on Netflix Nigeria, so there’s no need to go searching, it’s right there at the click of a button.

Another Netflix Original set in the 1980s, Glow is a comedy drama based on the ‘Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling’.

Starting Alison Brie of Mad Men and Community fame, it’s a series that prides itself on girl power and tackles some serious issues within the TV industry.

It has a 97% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is a much lighter, more fun drama than many dramas around at the moment.

We’re now two seasons in and it’s all set to prove be another great season when the third rolls around.

Based upon the true crime book of the same name, Mindhunter is an incredible series which is currently awaiting its series two.

Starting Jonathan Groff, the season is set at the very beginnings of criminal psychology and criminal profiling.

It’s continually branded one of the shows of the year, with it really standing out in a crowded market. It’s one of Netflix’s finest currently and a real must watch ahead of its return.

Maniac has only just hit Netflix and has a real stellar cast in Emma Stone and Jonah Hill.

It’s already received rave reviews and is comfortably one of the best dark comedies of the year.

The show follows Stone and Hill, two complete strangers, who are taking part in an unusual pharmaceutical study. The study claims to help fix any mental illness or heartbreak in what is a truly fascinating story.

It’s an incredibly experimental piece of television and is rightly lauded as one of Netflix’s best of the year.

The Good Place

The Good Place is rightly touted as one of the best comedies around at the moment.

Starting Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, the show is now in its second season and revolves around Kristen Bell being mistakenly placed in a Heavenly utopia upon her death.

Now in its third season, it’s a great show for a little light relief and one of Netflix’s finest when it comes to comedy.
