About 5 persons have been confirmed dead in a multi-car crash on Enugu-Abakiliki Experessway, Enugu, on Thursday.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Command in the state, SP Ebere Amaraizu, the fatal accident occurred when one Sienna vehicle was attempting to overtake another Vehicle and in the process collided with a Tipper Lorry carrying sand from the opposite direction.

In his words:

“The collision left five of the occupants of the Sienna car, believed to be travelling home for the burial of their loved ones, fatally injured and unconscious due to the impact of the accident”


Meanwhile, he added that they were immediately rushed to the Ammunication Hospital, Emene, where they were confirmed dead on arrival by a doctor.

Their corpses were deposited at the same hospital’s mortuary for further necessary action.
