ASUU STRIKE: DETAILS OF UNION MEETING WITH FG

Members of the Academic Staff Union Universirties (ASUU) have confirmed that the meeting with the Federal Government is scheduled for next week. Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU President, confirmed that the meeting would be held next week. He revealed that discussions were going on but the outlined conditions by ASUU are still being looked into by the federal government.

In his words:

“We have just started the discussions, we have really not gone too far, so what we have done today was to open the issues. By tomorrow we should meet and decide when we reschedule the meeting. This means that the strike still continues.

Striking university lecturers resumed discussions on November 5, with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngigie. Ngigie, who is FG’s delegation is optimistic that the resumed meeting will lead to the suspension of the strike. He said after a closed-door meeting with ASUU on Thursday that the discussions were fruitful. “We will resume discussions by next week”
