Barcelona booked their place at the last 16 stage of the ongoing UEFA champions league competition after beating PSV Eindhoven 2-1 at Philips stadium yesterday during their fifth group stage match of the campaign.
The Spanish champions had to dig deep before opening the scoring as the Dutch side kept things so tight at the back and were unlucky not to take the lead after rattling the bar on more than one occasions.
Barcelona’s patience however paid off in the second half after their captain, Lionel Messi, led a surge forward and opened the scoring with aplomb.
Gerard Pigue who scored the second from a Messi’s assist then took to his twiter handle to react to the amazing feat by conceding that their group was a hard one before quickly moving on to thank his team mates for their resilience.
