Tailor sentenced to one year imprisonment for stealing woman’s hand bag

 

A 21-year-old tailor, identified as ‘Emmanuel Yakubu’ has been sentenced to one year imprisonment for stealing a woman’s hand bag. The prosecutor, Ezekiel Galadima told the court that the accused, Emmanuel Yakubu, told the court that the hand bag belonged to a lady identified as ‘Naomi’.

The case was reported at the Police Area Command Office on Nov 17, 2018. According to Ezekiel, the accused conspired with two others, to snatch the handbag. He said the accused was apprehended while in possession of the handbag. “The bag contained a cell phone valued at N38,000 and N1,700 cash, but as at time of recovery, it was empty” Ezekiel Said. He added that the offense was contrary to sections 97 and 287 of the penal code law. The judge ordered ordered the accused, Emmanuel Yakubu, to pay N39,700 to the owner of the bag.
