Ben Bruce, Omokri hail fleeing police officers, who were meant to fight boko haram

Senator Ben Murray Bruce and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri have hailed the move of at least 167 police officers, that absconded from a training facility after being told they would be deployed to areas where they would be combating Boko Haram insurgents.

According to reports, the officers, who absconded, have been declared wanted and would likely face serious consequences, when caught.

The  officers were part of the 2000 recently recruited by Inspector-General Ibrahim Idris to assist the military, in it’s fight against insurgency in the North-east.

Senator Bruce in his argument said, the fleeing officers took a cue from now the fallen soldiers of Metele attack were treated. The lawmaker made this known in a tweet on Wednesday.

Why won’t the policemen run? If they die what will happen to their wives and children? Look at how we buried the hero soldiers who died at Metele? The President did not attend. He was not represented. Those policemen were watching. Are they fools? Do they want the same treatment?

Also reacting to the report is Reno Omokri, who queried the Inspector General of Police, for being angry that the officers absconded. Just like Bruce, he said the men saw what happened to the Metele soldiers and had no choice than to run.

Why will the IGP be angry that the hundreds of policemen he sent to fight Boko Haram in the NE ran away? The men aren’t fools! They saw what Boko Haram did to the better armed 157 Taskforce Battalion Metele. When they died, they saw how Buhari could not even attend their burial.
