CSKA Moscow record historic 3 – 0 win over Real Madrid in Champions League match

CSKA Moscow shocked Real Madrid by 3-0 in their final Champions League Group G match played at the Santiago Bernabeu. Although Santiago Solari fielded a weak squad against the Russian knowing full well that they have qualified for the last 16.

Nevertheless, the Russians completed a Champions League double over the defending champions with two first half goals from Fedor Chalov and Georgi Shchennikov as well as a third from Arnor Sigurdsson.

The Moscow based side set the ground running in the 34th minute as Sigurdsson found Chalov just outside the box before unleashing a beautiful curling shot with his left-boot to make it 1-0. A minute before half time, Russian World Cup star Mario Fernandes found his way into the box with a beautiful one-two before Shchennikov applied the finish to make it 2-0.

But it did not finish there as Sigursson got his well deserved goal in the 77th minute courtesy of an assist from on loan Everton star Nikola Vlasic to complete a happy ending for the Russians. Despite their impressive win on the night, CSKA Moscow failed to clinch a Europa League spot as Vitoria Plzen were also 2-1 winners to already qualified Roma.
