Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has slammed his former coach, Diego Simeone, for saying that the Belgian International won the best goalkeeper of the year award because he plies his trade with the champions holders.
Courtois who played under Simeone during his time at Atlectico Madrid was rewarded for leading his national team, Belgium, to a record third place finish at the just concluded FIFA World cup tournament in Russia – Simeone however thinks the big Belgian was only favoured because he plays for Real Madrid.
The former Chelsea shot stopper who was in action for the Los Blancos during their domestic league fixture then revealed at the end of the match today that Simeone is only jealous of Real Madrid success.
What he said:
“Simeone always criticizes Real Madrid to be more popular with Atlético’s fans, he always does that. He always brings up Real Madrid because we’re the best club in the world. He’s entitled to an opinion but I’ve been with him for 3 years.”
