“Nigeria would have moved forward had Buhari, not overthrown him”!!! Ben Bruce, Saraki, Sani, Fani-Kayode, others pay tribute to Shagari

Nigeria’s first president, Shehu Shagari passed away at age 93, at the Nation hospital in Abuja on Friday evening, after a brief illness, throwing the nation into mourning.

Condolences and tributes have started pouring in, from popular Nigerians since the news was first broken by his grand son, Bello Shagari, president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria’, NYCN.

joining millions of Nigerians to send their condolences are Senate President Bukola Saraki, Senators Ben Bruce, Shehu Sani, governor Aminu Tambuwal, Former minister, Femi Fani Kayode and a host of others.

In his tribute, Senator Bruce said the ex President was soft spoken and humble, and Nigeria, would have gone far had he not been overthrown by Muhammadu Buhari, in 1983.

I met President Shehu Shagari at Dr Alex Ekwueme’s home. He was very soft spoken and humble. Nigeria would have gone far if he had not been overthrown. A great leader. He brought the Igbos back to prominence after the civil war by making one of them VP. May his soul rest in peace.
