Shehu Sani, Reno Omokri criticise Akwa Ibom state for denying Buhari the use of its stadium

Senator Shehu Sani has hailed the decision of Akwa Ibom state, to allow President Muhammadu Buhari use the Goodwill Akpabio international stadium for campaign rally. Although the state in previous reports had refused citing an upcoming sports event as it’s reason.

According to the Senator, for a party or candidate to be denied the use of public stadiums is totally uncivil, and Akwa Ibom’s decision to rescind its earlier refusal should be emulated by States, that have such autocratic tendencies.

He wrote this via Twitter on Monday:

Denying any party or candidate the use of public stadiums for political reasons is uncivil and sadistic.

The news that Akwa Ibom has rescinded it’s earlier decision is a welcome development.

All state Governments with this kind of autocratic tendencies should take note.

Also criticising the act of refusing Buhari the use of its stadium, is former presidential aide, Reno Omokri. Though the self styled ‘official ruffler of the President’s feather,’ Omokri says it was wrong.

According to him, the act was undemocratic and should be discouraged. He said he expects that the All Progressives Congress, APC, states should treat the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, Atiku Abubakar, with courtesy, therefore such should be extended to Buhari, in PDP states.

It is wrong, in my opinion, for the Akwa-Ibom government to deny President @MBuhari the use of their stadium. That is undemocratic as far as I am concerned. We expect @APCNigeria states to treat @Atiku with every courtesy and so we must extend that same treatment to Buhari.
