God & religion are two critical components of life in Nigeria – Leon Balogun

Leon Balogun, a German-born Super Eagles in a new interview revealed that playing for Nigeria has taught him that God and religion are two critical components of life in the country.

Leon Balogun who recounted how Super Eagles players will sing religious songs while preparing for matches, admitted that he enjoys it a lot. The Super Eagles defender however added that most times he cannot participate, because that isn’t the way he was brought up.

According to him in Europe, before matches players don’t care about about prayers as they are always on their seats, listening to music with their headset and sometimes texting their families. The Brighton & Hove Albion player further disclosed in the interview with Sports Analyst, Oma Akatugba, that he sometimes miss the way he goes to matches with other Nigerian players as it brings a special type of bond.
