Mama Burna Boy steals the show at the 2019 Soundcity MVP Awards & Nigerians love it

Nigerian Afrofusion singer and songwriter Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy who is the grandson of Benson Idonije clinched the most wins at the 2019 Soundcity MVP Awards, taking home four plaques including ‘African Artiste of the Year’.

The Afro-fusion star also took the ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Listener’s Choice’ and ‘Best Make MVP at the award show held in Lagos on Saturday night.

But the real winner of the night was the mother of Burna Boy, Bose Ogulu, who collected his award.

Bose Ogulu, the mother of Nigerian Afrofusion singer and songwriter, Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy, has received praises from Nigerians for the representation of her son at the Soundcity MVP Awards.

Upstage, the woman sporting a strapless gown, wowed the crowd by thanking Phantom, the producer of his hit song ‘YE’, for his support and contributions to his success. She also thanked the fans, You Tube and Kanye West.

Mama Burna Boy said:

“Thank you ShinaPeller for providing a studio when he thought all he was providing was a nightclub… Thank you, God, for BurnaBoy.

“If YE is the song of the year then Phantom should be the producer of the year. This is Phantom (pointing at the producer), I am happy he is the African producer of the year.

“Thank you to the fans, thank you to Youtube. Thank you Kanye West for making a mistake and calling your album “YE”.
