Just in: Onnoghen’s trial adjourned over toothache

The trial of Walter Onnoghen, the suspended Chief Justice Nigeria (CJN) has been adjourned till Monday 18th of March 2019 over health concerns of the defendant.

His lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), explained at the tribunal that his client was suffering from tooth-ache. He availed a medical report to support the claim.

Prosecution counsel, Aliyu Umar (SAN) confirmed that he got a copy of the medical report concerning the defendant, signed by Dr Francis Uche, the Medical Director of Ideal Medical Services

Following this development, the tribunal chairman, Danladi Umar decided that in lieu of the medical report explaining the absence of the defendant in court and in consideration of the level of his blood pressure and with the prosecution had agreed for an adjournment, ruled that the trial should resume on Monday 18th of March, yo allow the defendant recuperate.
