There is no wrong in playing secular music in churches – Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy on secular music

Ghanaian singer Stonebwoy has reacted to his music being played in Rev Obofour’s Church auditorium. A video surfaced showing the dancehall acts music being played in the church.

This caused many to slam the church’s leader asking why it would play secular music in a church.

Reacting to the outcry, Stonebwoy said he sees nothing wrong with secular music being played in churches.

In his words;

“Nobody complains when gospel music is played in the pub or at the bar but when secular music that is popular among the people is played in the church people go haywire,” he said.

“Leave the churches alone, the body of Christ is you and I. Let us not use the opportunity to express hate or ignorance towards the church or its people, Christians or people who have a certain belief and are open-minded as well.

“Remember that the body of Christ is actually not the temple sitting out there it’s you. The temple of God is the body you have…your body my body and only God knows what we do to our bodies on daily basis.”

  1. Yes, it is. If “gospel” music is played in a pub or bar, it’s highly likely it is the brand of “gospel” that tries to straddle the fence between praise and party. Even that is wrong and. I ask readers to consider this: Who is GOD to you? Do you not realize that He is so Holy that human eyes can never look upon Him? The bible says He dwells in unapproachable light. If our admonitions cannot be measured against the Word of GOD, then those admonitions should be rejected. Read 1 Corinthians 8 with a particular focus on vs. 13 and see if it measures up to what this young man has said. Society has a tendency to try to bring GOD down to our level of understanding, but we have a responsibility to view and honor GOD for who He is.
