De Ligt Sends Ronaldo, Juve Out of Europe

Ajax defender and captain De Ligt scored the winning goal as they came from behind to knock out Juventus in the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League.

Usual suspect Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in Turin on Tuesday night, but they were pegged back six minutes through a Van De Beek goal and the first half ended 1-1.

Ajax carried more attacking threat from the beginning of second half, with Juve hanging on. But Ajax found a breakthrough when captain De Ligt rose highest to meet a corner kick to put Ajax in the lead.

The match ended 2-1 in favour of Ajax despite having a goal ruled out for offside.
